At the beginning of June, I attended a screenwriting workshop for writers and producers in Bremen, Germany. The seminars, which included sessions on pitching to film studios, preparing manuscripts and adapting novels for screen, were hosted by North Sea Screen Partners Nordmedia and FilmFyn [LINKS] for approximately 30 German, Danish and UK delegates.
The weekend was headed up by award-winning film producer Lars Hermann and facilitated by bestselling author and feature film director Brendan Foley. Top Hollywood producer Ned Dowd, whose credits include The Last of the Mohicans, Grosse Pointe Blank, Apocalypto, The Count of Monte Cristo, King Arthur, Shanghai Noon and The Three Musketeers, to name but a few, gave attendees a first-hand insight into the practical application of screenwriting on a working film-set.
Over the next few posts, I’ll share some of the top tips I’ve learned over the weekend.
